Degol is currently Senior Advisor at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) based in Addis Ababa.
Between 2010 and 2014, he was in New York with UNDP working on issues ranging from employment, trade, development finance, migration, private sector development and extractive industries.
Over the period 2008 and 2009, Degol was the Director of the International Policy Center (IPC-IG), based in Brazil.
During 2005-2007, he was Economic Advisor for the Caribbean Region with UNDP, based in Trinidad and Tobago.
Prior to joining the UN in 2005, Degol spent quite a few years at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, researching, teaching and consulting. He also taught economics and quantitative methods at City University, London.
Degol holds a PhD in Economics from the University of London.
